I
Not a verb, not an adjective
Not a noun
What is it?
Who am I?
A collection
Of thoughts
Of limbs
Of friends
Of achievements
A heart pumping blood
A pair of lungs breathing air
A life?
A stroke
In the painting of our environment
A paragraph
In the book of our world
A goal
In the game of the future
A verse
In the unending play of the universe.
Take a step
Beyond our three dimensions
And see
Your ideas
Your body
Your community
Your accomplishments
Your life?
And realize
In this infinite circle of existence that only God can see
That none of it matters.
Except
Without each stroke
What would a painting be?
Without each paragraph
What would a book be?
Without each goal
What would a game be?
Without each verse
What would a play be?
Without my thoughts
Who would I be?
Without my limbs
Who would I be?
Without my friends
Who would I be?
Without my achievements
Who would I be?
Without a heart pumping blood
Without a pair of lungs breathing air
Without life
Who would I be?
Take a step
Beyond our three dimensions
And realize
In this infinite circle of existence that only God can see
That without each point
What would a circle be?
